Western North Carolina is replete with outdoor activities and cultural opportunities. If you love water sports, there are outfitters to take you canoeing, white water rafting, kayaking, boating and fishing.
You can take a ride on the Rocky Mountain railway or on horseback through a National or State forest. The area is known for its hundreds of waterfalls. The Biltmore Estate is less than an hour drive from Wade Hampton as are a number of local and regional specialty shops.
Cultural opportunities abound such as the Groovin’ on the Green in Cashiers, the Brevard Music Festival, The Highlands Playhouse theater in Highlands and multiple live music and art galleries in Asheville in addition to a number of excellent area restaurants.
